Sole-mates

I have a confession to make. I like taking pictures of my feet. Alot. Not in a weird fettish kind of way, just in a sweet, look-where-my-feet-have-been kinda way. It's kind of hard to explain. I think everyone has a strange habit, and this his mine. A friend of mine, whom I shall not name here, used to like eating cement...
I think we should all embrace our freakiness and flaunt our funky habits to the world. So here, for your viewing pleasure, is a collection of my favourite footy snaps. Enjoy

Beach feet, soon after my arrival in Australia this year

Green Feet, Shovelling 4tons of peas on a friend's farm in Delmas, South Africa

Sailors Feet, Relaxing with some blue feet after sailing the Swan River, Perth

Scuba feet, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia

Jazz feet, at a friend's birthday this year, Ellington Jazz Club, Perth

I hope to collect many more of these footsie pictures in the future. What is your freaky habit?

My day in Pictures

Today I started off with a bit of early morning early bird Christmas shopping at the Freo markets and then headed off to a day spa for some much needed mid morning relaxation. Next stop was the Beaufort Street Festival. Needless to say I headed straight for the Huge Vintage Sale.
Oh. My. Gosh.
I picked up three lovely dresses, two for m sister and one for me ofcourse. Can't wait to wear it!

My absolute favorite treat for the day was the Laundromat. The creative folks from Flexhaus transformed an ordinary old laundromat into the Kingdom of Lost Socks. Their whimsical story tells the tale of how lost socks and washing machines come alive and party the night away... It does make me feel a bit better to think that all my lost socks are out there somewhere making friends with other lost socks and  partying up a storm every night instead of actually just being lost... under my bed... or in a corner of my room somewhere.

The laundromat was alive, not lifeless and glum,
The machines know how to work,
But also have FUN!

I hope you had a fun weekend too.

On the Line

I am househunting. And by househunting I mean searching on all my favourite blogs and sites for all the lovely things that I am going to buy for my new adorable litlle house instead of searching for the actual house.
So I might end up with all sorts of lovely bits and pieces and nowhere to put it, but who cares, I am loving it!
Today, I found these cute dolly pegs via Not on the High Street.
The strawberry ones are my favourite, how about you?

Delightfully Tacky

I am always super excited when I come up with enough posts to start a new section on my blog. So drumroll please..... Introducing my latest section.... Crushes.
I am so inspired by all the creativity, prettiness, loveliness and originality of what's out there, I am sure will have no trouble filling my crush diary with plenty of sweet bits.

My first crush is Delightfully Tacky. Marvel with me.

Elizabeth's blog is her amazing story about her travels in a 1973 Winnebago Brave RV. Along for the ride is her adorable pooch Little Bit (very photogenic). The pages of her blog are filled with beautiful pictures of awe-inspiring scenery along the way, gorgeous vintage outfits, every-day people and once in a life time experiences.
I admire Elizabeth's courage for taking on her dream to travel and only hope that I can show the same courage and fashion sense in the pursuit of my dreams...

Bow-Vember

The lead up to Christmas is sooo special and I am savouring every moment of it. Everyday I stare out the bus window on my way to work trying to spot new Christmas trees, lights and displays. Before we know it, Christmas will be over and all the shiny decorations will be packed away only to be quicly replaced by a multitude of easter eggs. So take a moment to just appreciate the wonderful and exciting couple of weeks ahead.

Have you started thinking about Christmas gifts yet? I have been on a shopping mission for the past few weeks, which explains my recent lack of posts.... sorry.

Today I stumbled upon Whiskers Lane, cute and crafty fashion accessories label that specialises in one off designs using vintage fabrics. The last bow even makes me think of a Christmas tree... or is it just me?

I finally got my hands on the new issue of Frankie, can't wait to see what they have in store for me this time! I will blog some of my favourites from the mag as soon as I have devoured it completely. For now though, feast on these charming vintage hankies and top by Trampoline, my latest Etsy crush.

Brooch Bouquets

Just when I think that I have found ever possible pretty thing there is to find, something catches my eye. Today it is these vintage brooch bouquets by Fantasy Floral Design. They are soooo pretty!
Definitely going on my wishlist. Sigh.
My favourite is the second one from the top, which one is yours?

Mug Shots

This morning I slowly soaked up the beautiful day ahead in my jimjams over my new book and a steaming cup of coffee outside in our veggie/herb garden. I truly live for my cup of coffee in the morning. No matter how busy or late or frantic or overwhelmed you are, take some time out and catch up with a friend for a coffee, a tea, a milkshake and maybe even a cupcake while you're at it.

P.S How adorable are these coffee cup cozies by Wayside Violet?

Hope you all had a sweet weekend

bend it like lila

I have been searching all my favorite sites for some inspiration for Christmas prezzies for my friends and family. I found these lovely customized hangers on LilaFrances' Etsy shop
Imagine your favourite dress or skirt hanging on one of these with a special message from a friend or loved one. Knowing myself, my hanger would probably say "iron me..".
Have a darling weekend everyone

Dear Diary

There is nothing more profound to me than the thought that someone, somewhere misses me, is thinking of me or cares for me.
My crazy friend Riana sent me this picture of her journal entry today. It simply made my day. These gestures of frienship mean the world to me, especially being so far away. Distance does not always make the heart grow fonder, but it sure has made mine more thankful.  Dankie vriendin.

All dressed up

Last night I finally got a few quiet moments to read my Peppermint Mag. They featured this amazing blog New Dress A Day.
This girl set out to wear a new dress each day for 365 days on a $1 a day budget. Amazing.

Before..
And voila! With a few cuts, hems, accessories and time this damn ugly $1 monster resurrects into this gorgeous little dress. It just goes to show that inside every horrendous shoulder-padded granny dress is the potential for something beautiful.
I think as of now, she has like 51 days, 51 dresses and $53 dollars left to go.
Goodluck, and well done sweety.

In touch

I spend hours browsing the web and I see so many lovely things that I would love to share on my blog, but there just isn't enough space or time. So I am delighted that I came across We Heart It on my daily browse this morning. Check out Petticote Notes' Heart Page to catch up on all the things that don't make it on to the blog, but are darling none the less.

You can also check out my Flickr, Twitter or Facebook to see more of what I get up to.

Down the Stone way

I am in Love. Addicted. Mesmerized.
I heart Angus and Julia Stone so much.
I would love to see them live, but their album will have to be my fix for now. My favourite song is Mango Tree. So beautiful.

Their music makes me feel like a raspberry flavoured raibow bubblebath. There's no other way to describe it.  It's delightful.

Daisy Love

I received the most beautiful text from a friend today. I wanted to say a special thank you, so I put on my sneakers, grabbed my camera and set out for a stroll around my neighbourhood after work. This picture is especially for you Ryno. Your thoughts and messages mean the world to me. Your frienship adds to all the beauty and love in my life.

Shelf Life

Every serious bookworm has a "to read" list, and I am no different. One book that has been on my list forever, has finally made the long awaited leap to my bookshelf. At last I found a copy of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's - One Hundred Years of Solitude. Sigh.
Can't wait to get reading, nothing beats a good classic.

Oh and the bookshelf above, going right to the top of my Christmas list.
